חזן משה ב"ר יעקב מיכל
Cantor Maurice Epstein
Feb 3, 1994      כ"ג שבט תשנ"ד

Cantor Epstein and his late brother Bernard gained international fame as the “Twin Cantors”. They were known for their unique duet presentation of traditional religious prayers and music.

They were heralded with overwhelming enthusiasm by Jews and non-Jews throughout the great synagogues, opera houses and concert halls of pre-war Europe. At home, they performed in the US and Canada. They were also featured weekly on New York’s Jewish radio station WEVD.

For many years they performed for the High Holidays at New York’s Historic Romanian Synagogue.

After his brother’s passing, Cantor Epstein continued to rouse congregations with his extraordinary dramatic tenor voice and the ability to transform the most prosaic parts of the service into an inspiring and moving religious experience.

For many years he was the Cantor for the High Holidays at Temple Beth El in Belle Harbor, NY.
